Peter Burke is an FBI agent, happily married man and all-around good guy. He loves deviled ham, his wife, and catching bad guys.

Peter caught forger/art thief/con artist Neal Caffrey--twice!--and after the second time, Neal persuaded him to let Neal serve out the remainder of his sentence helping the FBI catch other white-collar criminals. Peter and Neal have a close friendship--Neal trusts no one more than Peter--and Peter is trying to persuade Neal that an honest life is more rewarding than a dishonest if easy one.

Peter is human and in his mid-forties, with brown eyes and hair. He usually wears suits (which is probably why Neal's friend Mozzie calls him "the Suit" and Elizabeth "Mrs. Suit.") Peter and Elizabeth have been married for ten years. He calls her "El."
